Petaluma manhunt for kidnapping suspects closes golf course

PETALUMA, Calif. - Police surrounded an upscale neighborhood on a golf course for five hours Monday as helicopters and dogs searched for two suspected kidnappers who forced a Hercules woman to drive them from a Concord gas station.

One of the men claimed to have a gun, said Petaluma police Sgt. Marlin Christensen.

The 29-year-old victim escaped when the kidnappers got out of the car and told her to wait. She ran to a home and called police.

Police, sheriff's deputies and California Highway Patrol officers sealed both exits to the golf course community, searched every car that left and interviewed residents in 40 homes, but the suspects were not found.
